So I just finished reading my latest find: Area 187 – Almost Hell by Eric Lowther. This is the first book I have read by him and I loved it. I would have to give it 5 out of 5 stars. If you are a zombie fan, this book is a great read.
I don’t want to give too much away, but basically a zombie outbreak has occurred in the United States. The government gets the outbreak under control and then walls in the infected area. The book is about a newswoman who gets word of survivors in Area 187, of which the government denies. She tracks down the only person to have ever successfully brought survivors out of the area and they head in to try to rescue them.
This book was well written and the imagery drawn by the author made me not want to put it down. I felt drawn into the story and could almost see myself as a member of the group. I must admit, I am a bit of a zombie genre fan and so this immersion into the story was not a hard concept for me. But in a single novel I felt the character development was well done. I could clearly understand/sympathize with the characters and what they were going through.
For the past year or so, I have been reading a lot of hard science fiction – futuristic space-hopping cowboys and the like. While that genre is still fun to read, I have decided to start reading some works about zombies for a while. So I will be bringing you my other finds as I finish them.
